Image with small 6 sided blocks with painted images of a search in a hotel room for a lost sock

'Hand Luggage' has generated thought relevant, obviously to travel, but more so of a suitcase/backpack existence.

I propose to work within the context of living from a suitcase/backpack as I and I'm sure many others have experienced in the past.

A theme of 'Man in a Box' and a work title 'Where's my other sock?', are ideas that at present fuel my creativity.

The format 145mm x 70mm x 80mm enables me to work within the constraints of a box construction.

I propose to construct a box within the given measurements and use this as my working area, canvas. The work would thus have four sides, needing to be viewed from various positions to encompass the whole work.

An element of exploration or travel itself would be required in terms of viewing the work.

Ambiguities would also be introduced due to the worked nature and various perspectives taken of the work.

The images will be made up of photographs that will be cut and assembled with reference to the theme. The photocollage will then be painted, drawn, printed upon; scratched, sanded and marked to complete the work.

The painting and scratching etc, are important in eliminating certain suggestivenesses that may occur when working with photographs.

This process occurs when the photographs are cut and assembled, however becomes more complete through the use of other and various mediums.

A work that offers abstractions, ambiguities and most importantly stimulates a response would be the desirable result.
