The work is derivative of Raft 1995 a response to the built environment along the Noosa River Tewantin and the way in which the social development of the area has 'proceeded'.
The Raft made from hollow veneer sections mimics the construction frame parts of a house, rafters, studs, floorboards and construction boardwalks. These float within the space, randomly, invisibly linked, almost touching never quiet connecting as one might expect. the metaphorical gaps between boardwalks and rafts a little to far to bridge.

A video of the river shot over 24hrs is running projected into the space combining with the sound of wave or water flow and traffic drumming in the ears as might be experienced underwater creating a sense of immersion.

The work is in some way taking on a new dimension for me. There is something pleasant in the in the notion of being immersed, the raft/skeletal house forms, elements taking on meaning in terms of the body... and the water the deeper levels of the unselfconscious. No matter if the elements of the structure don't quite link up, I can swim toward them touch and move on to a new place, randomly, playfully.
